New York-Presbyterian CV Starr Pavilion

Manhattan, NY

The CV Starr Pavilion entrance is currently located under a dark and uninviting underpass on East 70th Street at a busy thoroughfare that includes numerous pedestrians, bicycle deliveries, ambulances, and vehicles accessing the patient drop-off, parking garage, and Hospital for Special Surgery.

In collaboration with HOK Architects who are designing a comprehensive lobby and facade renovation, the project addresses the entry experience with much needed site enhancements including improved traffic flow and pedestrian access, signage, art, architectural lighting, site furnishings, distinctive paving, and a visual connection to green vegetation through interior and exterior courtyard and street plantings and trees, and green infrastructure practices.

The feasibility study proposes a conceptual design plan that improves not only the beauty of the space, but the functionality as well by taking in to consideration client programming needs, traffic analysis, and existing site opportunities and constraints. It will reinforce consistent design standards across the campus for a clear identity for this important institution.
